Qualifications: Diploma of Children's Services
What makes you passionate about working in childcare? I love seeing the wonder on children’s faces when they see something new and miraculous. I am passionate about two things in particular, about teaching children how important sustainability and looking after the environment is, I also think it is of utmost importance to start teaching children from when they are first born, language and literacy skills. This can be as simple as reading to them on a daily basis and lays down the building blocks for their Lifelong Learning.
What is the funniest or most memorable moment you can share from working in childcare? The most memorable moment I have thus far had in childcare would be receiving 3 nominations in the Australia Early Education and Care Awards for ‘Educator of the Year’, from three of the families for whom I have cared for their children. It was such a huge honour and extremely humbling to receive these nominations, as well as proceeding further and being named a Finalist in the national competition, putting me into the Top 6 Educators in Victoria and Top 100 of Australia.
Why do you believe your centre is an excellent choice for parents seeking the best childcare? Creswick Children’s Services is an amazing centre, we have some brilliant Educator’s whom are extremely passionate about what they do. We are looking forward at doing more for our environment and sustainability and coming up with a number of strategies to reduce our carbon footprint. We are about to launch a Community library to encourage literacy and language skill development for all our children and their families. Our centre is based is a beautiful rural location in a very close knit community and I feel absolutely privileged to be a part of it.
